Marta Bernstein // graphic and type designer // Milano
Education
I graduated (BA and MA) in 2006 at the Politecnico of Milan with a research thesis about Nineteenth century Italian type. In 2008 I was selected to be one of the students of the Type and Media Master (MDES), the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague (NL), where I graduated in June 2009.
Work & Type
In 2006 I started LS graphic design in Milan, where I still work now.
I collaborated with some publications in the area of type and I am one of the editors of «Italic 2.0 Contemporary Type Design in Italy».
I am into calligraphy, letterprinting and stone carving.
Teaching
I currently teach at Scuola Politecnica di Design (courses in English), Typography and Editorial Design and at CFP Riccardo Bauer, Milan, type design.
I am also in charge of a course in Typography at Politecnico University, Milan.
I taught at IED Milano (courses in English) and have been teaching assistant at the Politecnico University several times for the Type Design course.
Other stuff
I am much into photography and since recently I am learning again to shoot analogue films with my beloved L-CA+ and Voigtländer Vito B.
I love to sail and I have been teaching sailing since 2001 at Velamareclub, Sardinia. If I'm not in front of the computer, I'm likely either to be climbing somewhere in Northern Italy or cooking, as a perfect Italian girl stereotype.
